Are you spending your summer holidays in Ovronnaz but don’t know how to plan your week? Don’t worry! We’ll give you all the tips you need to make your holiday unforgettable.

The little tips that make all the difference!

Let’s start with the basics. Don’t forget the often-overlooked items in your suitcase:

  • Appropriate clothing: T-shirts, hiking trousers, a waterproof jacket to handle changing weather.

  • Hiking shoes: sturdy for the trails, and flip-flops for the evening.

  • A hat or head covering

  • Sunscreen and lip balm: to protect you from the sun.

  • Swimsuit: for a dip in the thermal baths.

The little things you forget in your hiking backpack

Before setting off, we always check the essentials… but these small items are often forgotten. Yet, they can really make a difference:

  • Headlamp: for an early morning hike.

  • Swiss Army knife: a handy tool for just about anything.

  • Cap or hat: to protect your head from the high-altitude sun.

  • Binoculars: to spot wildlife or simply enjoy the views.

  • Layered clothing: the onion technique to adapt to changing temperatures.

  • Hiking poles: great for protecting your knees, especially on the way down.

And remember: your backpack should never weigh more than 10% of your body weight!

The Program
Now that you’ve booked your holiday in Ovronnaz, you might be wondering what to do during a week in the mountains. We’ve put together a full itinerary packed with suggestions just for you 😊

Day 1 – Arrival and first discoveries

Arrival in Ovronnaz and check-in at your accommodation.
After a long (or short) journey, there’s nothing better than dropping off your luggage and settling into your cozy home for the week! Once you're all set, why not explore the resort and fill up your empty fridge?

As you stroll through the village, you’ll find lots of lovely shops:

  • Le Chalet Gourmand for barbecue essentials, cheese specialties for a perfect Valaisan board, and regional wines.

  • Boulangerie Le Délice for fresh bread, pastries, and desserts.

  • The Coop for all your groceries.

  • A quick stop at Brocard for your first souvenirs.

Once you're done shopping, enjoy a drink on one of the many terraces in town—or better yet, go terrace-hopping and really kick off your holidays in style!

Day 2 – Warm-up hike to the Alpage d’Odonne

Now the real adventure begins! Start your first hike with a 40-minute walk—perfect to ease into mountain life.
From the sports centre parking, follow the forest trail that crosses the ski area and winds through the woods. At the alpage, take time to soak in the view and explore the site.

Just below, you'll find a grill and picnic area (follow the signs). Time to enjoy the food you picked up the day before!

Day 3 – Botanical trail & games

Set off to discover the Mille Fleurs botanical trail—an award-winning, fun, and family-friendly path perfect for a half-day outing.
In the afternoon, head to the central square to enjoy some volleyball, badminton, pétanque, or ping-pong. Equipment is available for free at the tourist office.

Wrap up the day with a delicious dinner at one of the resort’s many restaurants.

Day 4 – Hike & relaxation

A scenic 2h20 loop hike awaits, ending with a well-earned meal at the Buvette de Loutze!
After the effort, it’s time to relax at the Ovronnaz thermal baths.

Day 5 – Activities & evening concert

Join one of our weekly activities!
On Wednesdays, recharge with yoga under the larches, or for the adventurous, try introductory climbing or a fun magic potion and herbal remedy workshop.

End the day with a summer concert at 8:00 PM at the Ovronnaz chapel: classical music, jazz, Latin rhythms—something for everyone.

💡 With your tourist tax, you receive an Activity Pass, giving you free access to many events and perks. Ask us about it!

Day 6 – Cultural getaway

After several days in the mountains, take a cultural break in Bourg-de-Saillon to explore the legend of Farinet.
Continue to Sion to visit the ruins of Tourbillon Castle and the charming old town.

End your day with a refreshing swim at the Îles de Sion. Need tips for more Valaisan discoveries? Drop by the tourist office—we’re happy to help! Then it’s time to head back up to the mountains.

Day 7 – The big hike: Cabane de Rambert

Today’s the big day: you're ready for the hike to the Cabane Rambert!
Two options: start from the chairlift summit, or for the ambitious, hike all the way from Ovronnaz.
Prefer something lighter? Take the Tour de Saille, and save Rambert for next time.

Day 8 – Farewell (but not goodbye!)

Yes, it's already the last day—but don’t worry, let’s end the week on a high note.
After check-out and packing your souvenirs, enjoy one last moment of peace at the thermal baths, and a final coffee in Ovronnaz.

On your way home, stop at Les Places and take a short walk to the beautiful Farinet footbridge.

Now it’s time to head back—but we’re sure you’ll be saying, “See you next year, Ovronnaz!”
