A local and human adventure that highlights quality, taste, and terroir. An invitation to discover the richness of the region.
In 2022, the first microbrewery in Ovronnaz, La Saï, was born with a mission: to offer a high-quality craft beer deeply rooted in its terroir. After a year of testing, the first beers were launched in 2023, marking a new chapter for the resort.
Often associated with winter sports, beer is a passion for avid enthusiast Cécile Luisier, who decided to take on a new challenge: craft beer production, continuing the “homemade” approach already established at the restaurant La Promenade
Origin of the name Saï
The name of the brewery is inspired by the Leytron dialect, where “Avaï Saï” means “to be thirsty.” Saï also refers to the Saille region, where the pure, crystal-clear water used to brew the beers comes from—a key element in the brewing process.
The art of brewing and quality water
The microbrewery La Saï places particular emphasis on product consistency to maintain exceptional quality in terms of taste, appearance, bitterness, and aromatic profile. A simple change in raw materials can affect many aspects of the beer. That is why it is important to work with high-quality ingredients.
The pure water from the Saille region, one of the most important ingredients in brewing, gives the beers a unique quality.
Saï Beers: A Palette of Flavors!
Currently, the brewery offers three types of beers: a blonde, a wheat beer, and an IPA (India Pale Ale). Each one is a perfect blend of basic ingredients – barley, hops, water, and yeast. The microbrewery team continuously works on new recipes, passionate about the diversity of beers that can be produced with just four basic ingredients.
The most popular beer?
The blonde remains the most appreciated beer for its refreshing qualities. The IPA also receives many positive comments for its fruity taste, exotic aroma, and pleasant bitterness.
A Local Tasting
The beers can be enjoyed on tap at the restaurant La Promenade. They are also available in bottles at a few shops in Ovronnaz, such as La Buvette de Loutze, Pension d’Ovronnaz, Hôtel des Muverans and the delicatessen Le Chalet Gourmand
The microbrewery has chosen to trust partners from Ovronnaz who are eager to offer local products. Distribution is limited exclusively to the area surrounding the brewery.
